Money Mindset Visionary

Denise Duffield-Thomas helps women worldwide discover their Sacred Money Archetype® and Money “DNA” to gain a better understanding of their strengths and weaknesses when it comes to attracting money, saving money and spending money.

Her soulful take on money mindset lets you own your money story and rewrite it for a life and business full of prosperity and abundance. And her playful and warm way of delivering money advice and helping you get out of your own way to attract what you want in life.

I highly recommend you take her “What’s Your Money DNA?” quiz. I found the questions and the results not only eye-opening but eerily accurate. It’s like she’s got a laser on your money soul.

Like so many of us who started out with “less than” and/or scarce financial resources. See how she turned her ideas and desire around money into a 7-figure business.

  1. What’s your mission? Tell us about your organization/business.

My mission is to change the way women earn money, so we can harness it for a tool for good in the world. My books and courses help women get rid of their money blocks so they can earn more, save more and feel good about it.

  1. How long did it take you to reach important milestones in your business or organization?

I was honestly super excited about my first month in business where I made $225! It felt like a million! I made 60k the first year and then I’ve virtually doubled my revenue every year. Hitting a million in revenue after five years felt great, but it was hard to beat that first few hundred bucks!

  1. Tell us about the “start-up scares”: Was there a moment where you ever seriously contemplated quitting?

The first year of any business is the hardest, and I spent most of it in abject terror. I once had to set boundaries with one of my coaching clients, and I slammed my computer shut and didn’t open it for the next 12 hours, because I so worried about her reaction.

It was totally fine, but those little “rites of passage”, like your first refund, your first default payment or your first complaint feel HUGE and derail lots of entrepreneurs. Keep going.

  1. Did you ever “fail” or make a substantial mistake in business or organization? Any serious Challenges? How did you overcome and resolve it?

I consider everything a good lesson, but I spent 9 months and $6,000 working on a self-published book, “Get Hitched, Lucky Bitch” about manifesting your soul mate. I realized right before publication that I wanted to focus on money and not spread my message too thin. It was an expensive lesson but ultimately the right decision.

  1. What’s the most impactful action you’ve taken to reach your goal/s?

Reminding myself that I don’t have to be everything to everyone (see: Get Hitched), so I’m constantly reining in random ideas, and giving myself permission to be creative within guidelines – like I can write about anything I like as long it as fits in my overall mission of “women and money”.

  1. What would you tell your younger/earlier self? Any piece of advice?

“Everyone is scared. Fear itself doesn’t mean that you’re not meant to be successful. The absence of fear isn’t the goal. Just keep moving forward. You’ll be awesome”.

  1. What the best advice YOU’VE ever received about pursuing your vision?

“Everyone has fear”. I never believed it because I thought that surely at some point the fear goes away, but it doesn’t. What scares you today won’t scare you tomorrow, but there’s always something new to be scared about.

  1. Has having success in your business/organization or money changed you? In what ways?

I grew up with a single mother who had to watch every single penny. Not having to think about keeping the lights on, or feeding my kids is a daily joy, and I never take it for granted. I don’t have particularly extravagant tastes, but not having to worry about finances, and being able to help my family is the best. Money is awesome.

  1. How do you create, innovate or break the rules in your life/business/organization?

Calling my business “Lucky Bitch” was definitely a big leap of faith. Most money teachers are serious, don’t swear and wear suits instead of double denim and caftans. I feel like I’m the love child of Suze Orman and Amy Schumer.

  1. Tell us about your most successful launch. What was it for and what really moved the needle for you to make it a success? (If you’re comfortable, please share if it met your goals/expectations or if it earned 5-, 6- or 7- figures.)

Our last big Money Bootcamp launch was right in the middle of the US election which in hindsight was not the best decision ever. We still hit $750k but it was a big lesson to not try and compete with a big global event!

  1. Stevie Wonder or The Beatles? (this, I must know.)

The Beatles! Money can’t buy you love (but it can buy lots of other cool things).
